CELEBRATING SALOME SELLERS DAY

Come celebrate with us and see weaving demonstrations, oral history videos and visit with Salome Sellers herself (aka DISHS Trustee Carol Bacon) sharing interesting stories of life in the 1800's.  Salome was born in Deer Isle in 1800.  She lived through the entire 1800's and passed away at the age of 108 in 1909.

Due to her unusually long life, Salome was often featured in local newspapers and visited by those interested in hearing about her life.  A book about Salome: "An Island Woman: Salome Sellers, 1800-1909" is available for purchase at the Historical Society.

Hope you will come visit Salome and celebrate with us!
