Stave Island: Clayton

The grave sites of Benjamin Eaton and his wife are purported to be on Stave Island. The graves have not been found by the Claytons, the present owners of the island. Benjamin was the son of Solomon Eaton and the grandson of Major William Eaton, per Hosmer's history. William Eaton was the very first permanent settler on Deer Isle in 1762.
